Today I made a few things that did turn out to be really good. I need to add this to the rotation. Who am I kidding I need to start a rotation.
Honey - Garlic Slow Cooker Chicken I didn't have basal and so I used thyme. I also didn't have a lot of catsup and so I used some pasta sauce I had (Ragu flavored with meat) .
I made Minute Rice - Multi-Grain Medley (with almonds added after it cooked) to go with it.
I also made a depression cake - I know that is not what it was called on this link, but it's another name for it. For icing I melted some butter - added a little cocoa and powdered sugar. I didn't measure, but it was good - a little too good.

Cakes
Cake can be so simple and yet so beautiful. I found some great ideas.
Upside Down Cakes - The idea is pretty much just brown sugar and butter melted in the bottom of a pan. Fruit is place on top of it and batter poured over that. Then bake as usual.

Recipes using Canned Biscuits
Easy and low cost.
Desserts
Desserts
- Cinnamon Sweet Puffs - I actually made these (see picture). I didn't roll the dough in butter before rolling it in the cinnamon/sugar mixture but other than that I followed the recipe pretty close.
Warning: be careful for expanding marshmallow, one biscuit turned into a mini volcano and marshmallow lava came out onto my muffin tin. - Apple dumplings - Don't have a picture, but I have made a version of these.

Breakfast meat
I would probably not have thought of this as a separate category, but I ran across some good recipes for breakfast sausage. It's made from ground turkey. The first one was too mild and the second one was too hot. Then I accidentally got them mixed up used ingredients from both and it was pretty darn good.
Breakfast sausage - I didn't know you could make this stuff
- Turkey Sausage Patties - I have to alter this one some. half the meat and cut back on the pepper and salt
- Turkey Breakfast Patties - This is the first on that I tried and it opened my eyes to what can be done with spices
- Chipotle and Honey Glazed Bacon
- Spiced bacon twists
- Pig Candy (aka brown sugar bacon)
- Maple Mustard Canadian Bacon
- Mustard and Jalapeno Rubbed Bacon

Omelet
This morning I found out about a couple of really great sounding omelets that I had never heard of. I never really stopped to think about what all an omelet could be. Omelet is defined as a dish consisting of beaten eggs cooked until set and folded over. Most have a filling inside. This could be a great way to use some leftover meat or vegetables.
Regular Omelet - just cheese and or vegetables inside
Bread Omelet - a slice of bread inside. It's a south India street food. Looks like less mess than making french toast.

Japanese Omelet Rice (Omu Raisu) - omelet with fried rice and vegetables inside. I can't wait to try this out.
Oven Omelets - This is something you can put together ahead of time then cook last minute

I"m trying to save money by becoming better at managing my food budget. There is so much information out there. I started to feel like Alice in Wonderland. I went down a lot of rabbit trails and got lost for a while. Now I hope to pull together something that works for me.
